Terminal Evaluation of the UN Environment/GEF project: Vulnerability Assessment and Adaptation Project for Climate Change in the Coastal Zone of Cambodia Considering Livelihood Improvement and Ecosystems (VAAP)

This is a Terminal Evaluation report for the UN Environment/ Global Environment Facility project entitled – ‘Vulnerability Assessment and Adaptation Programme for Climate Change in the Coastal Zone of Cambodia Considering Livelihood Improvement and Ecosystems – VAAP/LDCF’.The project was implemented in parallel with the Cambodia Climate Change Alliance’s (CCCA) Coastal Adaptation and Resilience Planning (CARP) component and it was designed to increase the resilience of natural ecosystems (such as mangrove forests) and to reduce the vulnerability of coastal communities to climate change impacts. The evaluation had two primary purposes: 1) to provide evidence of results to meet accountability requirements, and 2) to promote operational improvement, learning and knowledge sharing through results and lessons learned among UN Environment and the main project partners in Cambodia. Taking into account the structure, initial design and linkages with parallel projects (e.g. CCCA), the evaluation aimed to underline the need to identify lessons of operational and strategic relevance for future initiatives within the field of sustainable development and climate change adaptation on the coast.
