Terminal evaluation of the UNEP GEF project: Land degradation assessment in drylands (LADA)

UN Environment Evaluation Office (2011)

This is a terminal evaluation of a UNEP GEF project implemented between 2006 and 2010. The LADA project had two principal objectives: develop and implement strategies, methods and tools to assess, quantify and analyse the nature, extent, severity and impacts of land degradation (land degradation) on ecosystems, watersheds and river basins, and carbon storage in drylands at a range of spatial and temporal scales; and build national, regional and global assessment capacities to enable the design, planning and implementation of interventions to mitigate land degradation and establish sustainable land use and management practices. The evaluation had two primary purposes: to provide evidence of results to meet accountability requirements; and to promote learning, feedback, and knowledge sharing through results and lessons learned among UNEP, FAO, the GEF and their partners.
