DECISION OF THE MEETING - Nineteenth Ordinary Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Region of the Mediterranean and its Protocols; Implementing the Marine Litter Regional Plan in the Mediterranean (Fishing for Litter Guidelines, Assessment Report, Baselines Values, and Reduction Targets)

Adopt the Fishing for Litter Guidelines in accordance with Articles 9(6) and 10(e) of the Marine Litter Regional Plan; Adopt the marine litter baseline values; Adopt a basin-wide marine litter reduction target of 20% of beach litter by 2024 and a significant and measurable decrease of other marine litter items; Encourage the Contracting Parties to take the necessary measures to implement the Regional Plan in a timely manner considering as appropriate measures related to micro-plastic and submit a report on measures taken by 2017 for the considerations of COP 20.
