Este Relatório foi elaborado no âmbito da preparação da participação de Cabo Verde
na Conferência das Nações Unidas sobre o Desenvolvimento Sustentável que terá
lugar na cidade de Rio de Janeiro no Brasil em Junho de 2012. O Documento faz uma
incursão ao processo de desenvolvimento do país nos últimos 20 anos, ilustrando os
grandes ganhos em vários sectores que concorrem para o Desenvolvimento
Sustentável passando pelo sector Ambiental com particular destaque para o reforço do
quadro legal, a criação de um quadro institucional adequado e o reforço das
capacidades técnicas e humanas, pela dimensão social abarcando os indicadores de
Saúde, de Educação e do Saneamento básico, até chegar na dimensão Económica
cujos destaques vão para a promoção do crescimento económico e a redução da
pobreza, a organização do desenvolvimento turístico e o aproveitamento do potencial
das energias renováveis do país.
