Terminal Evaluation of the UNEP/FAO/GEF Mainstreaming Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Use for Improved Human Nutrition and Well-being (BFN) GEF ID: 3808 (2012-2018)
This report is a Terminal Evaluation of a FAO/UNEP/GEF project implemented between 2012 and 2019.The project's overall development goal was to contribute to the improvement of global knowledge of biodiversity for food and nutrition and thereby enhance the well-being, livelihoods and food security of target beneficiaries in Brazil, Kenya, Sri Lanka and Turkey through the conservation and sustainable use of this biodiversity and the identification of best practices for up-scaling. The evaluation sought to assess project performance (in terms of relevance, effectiveness and efficiency), and determine outcomes and impacts (actual and potential) stemming from the project, including their sustainability. The evaluation has two primary purposes: (i) to provide evidence of results to meet accountability requirements, and (ii) to promote learning, feedback, and knowledge sharing through results and lessons learned among FAO, UNEP, and the relevant agencies of the project participating countries.
