Gender-responsive adaptation: Health insurance for women in Senegal - Adaptation Gap Report 2023 – Case Study

Tabbush, Constanza ; Rovelli, Lorenzo (2023-11)

An example of extending health insurance coverage to women farmers in northern Senegal illustrates the steps needed to incorporate two critical gender policy design features: the recognition of gendered risks and policy action to address them. These form the bedrock of gender mainstreaming in adaptation planning and implementation. This case study is part of the publication “Adaptation Gap Report 2023: Underfinanced. Underprepared. Inadequate investment and planning on climate adaptation leaves world exposed” (ISBN No: 978-92-807-4092-9). Suggested citation: United Nations Environment Programme (2023).
