The Vitogo River enters the sea near Lautoka, the second largest city in Fiji. This area has not been influenced by any major environmental changes arising from industrial development. However, the construction of the sawnill and chipmill may significantly affect water quality in the Vitogo River and associated coastal areas. The effects of the mill on the quality of the environment can be evaluated in future only on the basis of comparison with the present state of the environment. This necessitates the completion of a baseline study. This report is a record of the findings of the baseline study.en_US
