dc.description2-Nitropropane (2-NP) is a colourless, oily liquid with a mild odour. It is flammable, only moderately volatile, and stable under ordinary conditions. It is only slightly soluble in water but miscible with many organic liquids, and it is an excellent solvent for many types of organic compounds. Adequate analytical methods exist for the identification and measurement of 2-NP at environmental concentrations. Current methods use gas chromatography and a flame ionization or electron capture detector or, alternatively, high-performance liquid chromatography with an ultraviolet detector. For measurement in air, 2-NP must first be trapped and concentrated in a solid sorbent.en_US
