Rwanda like most countries around the world is currently faced with the problem of unsustainable consumption and production patterns that threaten the future wellbeing of generations to come. As a way of trying to address that imbalance, the country has developed this National Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) Programme to bring about a shift towards a more sustainable mode of development. Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) is the use of services and related products, which respond to basic needs and bring about a better quality of life while minimising the use of natural resources and toxic materials as well as emissions of waste and pollutants over the lifecycle of the service or product so as not to jeopardise the needs of future generations (Oslo Symposium, 1994).en_US
