This is a Briefing Note for UNEA-6 with Preliminary Highlights from the Bern III Conference, to support UNEA-6 MEA high-level side event #5 “MEAs cooperation and the GBF: Insights from the Bern III Conference” to be held on Thursday, 29th February 2024 from 5:15pm to 6:30pm at the Helipad, MEAs events Tent A, UNEP headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. Following the conclusion of the Bern III Conference that brought together representatives of parties and secretariats of 16 multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs), and a range of other stakeholders, organizations and individual experts and with financial support of Switzerland. The candid exchange on cooperation to implement the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework resulted in concrete ideas for increased collaboration among MEAs at global, regional and national levels.
