World Ozone Day, observed annually on September 16th, is a pivotal event to raise awareness and catalyze action to protect the ozone layer, our planet’s protective shield. Since its inception following the adoption of the Montreal Protocol in 1987, this day has underscored the importance of global cooperation in combating ozone depletion and its harmful effects. The theme for World Ozone Day this year, "Montreal Protocol: Advancing Climate Action," highlights the Montreal Protocol's continued success, which has steered the ozone layer toward recovery and contributed significantly to the fight against climate change. The protocol’s phase-out of ozone-depleting substances has preserved biodiversity, safeguarded human health, and protected ecosystems and economies worldwide. This document is a compilation of reports of World Ozone Day celebrations in Asia and the Pacific region.en_US
