A two days Training of Trainers (TOT) Workshop funded by World Dental Federation (FDI) was organized in collaboration with United Nations Environment program (UNEP), World Health Organization (WHO) and International Association of Dental Manufactures (IDM). It was hosted in Uganda as part of the activities of the East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda) Dental Amalgam phase-down (EADAP) project. The objectives of the EADAP-Project are to : investigate the current supply and trade of dental amalgam and materials alternative to amalgam and make recommendation for future information systems; assess the current waste management practices in the East African countries; create awareness of preventive dental care and encourage a switch to appropriate alternative to dental amalgam, when clinically indicated, among dentists and patients; and, demonstrate environmentally sound management of dental restoration materials waste in selected dental facilities in the three East African countries.
