Description
The project “Promoting Climate Resilience in the Rice Sector through Pilot Investments in Alaotra-Mangoro Region” aims to address the vulnerability of rice farming systems in Madagascar to erratic weather patterns and identify promising pathways through which rice farming can be made more resilient. The project is targeted to the important rice growing region of Lake Alaotra-Mangoro, which is a region of Madagascar that is particularly vulnerable to the negative effects of climate change. The report is divided into four parts: (i) an overview of the methodology used to conduct the baseline survey and presentation of the validated, revised performance indicators; (ii) the baseline values for revised and validated indicators presented in the Performance Measurement Framework (PMF); (iii) a detailed sampling design and data collection and management protocol, and (iv) a list of conclusions and recommendations for the project based on analysis of the baseline indicators.
