dc.description | In September, 2017, the ninth meeting of the BRICS leaders was held in Xiamen. In August 2017, The carbon neutral project was launched by the Xiamen Municipal Government. The project will neutralize the greenhouse gases generated during the meeting by planting mangroves. The carbon neutralization project reflects China's determination to promote a low-carbon economy and sustainable development, optimizes the ecological environment as well as enhances the sense of well-being of the people. Xiatanwei Mangrove Coastal Wetland Ecological Park is one of the marine ecological restoration projects in Xiamen. The total planned area is about 404 hectares. It is planned to plant about 80 hectares of mangroves. It will be implemented in two phases. After completion, it will be the largest mangrove wetland ecological park with unique characteristics of tourism, leisure and entertainment. | en_US |
