The method described is suitable fer the determination of mesophilic aeromonads in coastal bathing waters of temperate and trop1cal seas. It is designed to be used as a supplementary parameter 111 san1tary surveillance of coastal waters. This method employs a membrane filter procedure, which allows concentration of the bacteria prior to 1ncubation, and is a great advantage in estimating low numbers of bacteria.
