The strategy for Solid Waste Management (SWM) is aiming at attaining sustainable management of solid waste that contributes to achieving economic and social benefits to Tanzanian people within the next few years. This strategy has been presented, discussed, commented upon and modified through inputs from various interest groups; the Vice President’s Office, Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children; Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment; Ministry of Regional Administration and Local Government; the Municipal Councils of Dar es Salaam; and the Environmental NGOs. To take account of changes in Tanzania’s situation and international developments in waste management technologies, this strategy will need to be updated at regular intervals.
