On 8 December 2015, at the Netherlands Pavilion during the UNFCCC COP21 meeting in Paris, high-level representatives from government, the private sector, civil society, and international organizations gathered to discuss the role of zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) in mitigating climate change. The meeting, chaired by leaders from the International Energy Agency, UN-Habitat, and UNEP, provided a platform for stakeholders to assess the readiness of ZEV technology and the need for coordinated action between industry and governments. Private sector participants highlighted advancements in battery performance and cost reductions, while stressing the importance of financial incentives and market integration. Policy leaders from several countries shared examples of supportive measures and emphasized the necessity of stable policy frameworks and international cooperation. The event concluded with a call for global public-private partnerships and a paradigm shift toward a zero emissions transport sector, with UNEP announcing work on a new electric mobility program to maximize global benefits and accelerate ZEV adoption.
