The purpose of this document is to contribute to the process of development of an environmental quality criteria to scientifically address the ecological, cultural and socio-economic conditions of the Wider Caribbean region, which is a tropical and therefore diverse environmental area. It consists of a compilation of the environmental quality criteria and primary and secondary standards currently in existence in countries of the region that sent in data pertinent to the coastal and marine zones of their respective interest. It includes a brief discussion of the advantages, feasibility, desirability and applicability of those standards.
