This publication is a contribution to the UNEP sponsored regional Action Plan for the Caribbean Environment Programme adopted at the intergovernmental meeting convened by UNEP in Montego Bay. Jamaica, 6-8 April 1981***. This Directory, compiled under the auspices of the UNEP financed project (FP/5102-84-06), is a product of the Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Information System (ASFIS) coordinated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). FAO circulated questionnaires to marine environment institutes in the States participating in the Caribbean Action Plan, collated the replies received and entered them into the Institutions Register of ASFIS, which had been modified to conform with Regional Seas needs.
