This study identifies and assesses key sectors for green transition and impacts of green investments in support of Belarus’ transition towards a green economy. The Government of Belarus (GoB) has actively sought the implementation of sustainable measures in the sectors of Energy and Renewable Energy through various policies and programs. The Government has also pursued a path toward a green economy since 2004, and under its newest national direction for 2030, National Strategy for Sustainable Socio-economic Development 2030, the GoB sets out green economy priorities for the country for the short term (2016-2020) on structural and institutional investments to support green economy transition, while for the mid-term (2021-2030) it seeks to foster human development by investing on human capital via knowledge intensive industries and services. The benefits of shifting to a green economy are well aligned with the country’s long-term development goals, as highlighted in a number of Belarus’ sectoral strategies.
