Description
This Recovery Action Plan was specifically designed to present information on the biology and the present status and distribution of sea turtles in Panama, as well as to recommend local, national and regional measures for the conservation of depleted sea turtle populations. Such recommendations include creating (and implementing) coastal developmental plans that take into consideration the biological needs of sea turtles, enforcing regulations to control discharge of sewage and garbage, positioning mooring buoys on coral reefs and seagrass areas to prevent damage to these habitats, and emphasizing national awareness among our citizens on the plight of Panama’s sea turtles which, historically, have contributed so much to our culture, ecology, and economy.
