This note serves as a background document for consideration of agenda item 2: Preparations for the special session on the commemoration of the creation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP@50), sub-item (a) Secretariat update on progress in the preparations for the special session. The note constitutes a draft concept note on a World Environment Situation Room (WESR), following requests from Member States at the 8th meeting of the annual subcommittee of the CPR to clarify this concept further in the context of the special session on UNEP@50.
