This action plan is a living document by the UN Decade partner network to collectively work towards the goals and vision of this UN Decade. Moving from strategy to action, this plan allows all existing and new partners to mobilize around key priority areas for restoration – the Restoration Challenges – closing important gaps to achieve the global restoration efforts that science tells us is needed to restore our ecosystems and support human livelihoods and well-being. By defining concrete, ambitious challenge targets across twelve thematic areas and working towards achieving them as well as including calls for actions to key stakeholders, they set in motion a wave of activities in concrete contribution to key international goals such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) and the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF). Many of the Challenges aim at establishing or recognizing new World Restoration Flagships such as large-scale restoration initiatives led by Indigenous Peoples and local communities or Faith groups.
