dc.description | This reference manual provides guidance on Integrated Policymaking (IP) with a view to promoting Sustainable Development (SD) in its environmental, social, and economic (ESE) dimensions. IP: • is proposed as a normative policymaking approach that considers critical ESE implications and interactions associated with policy issues and their potential solutions; • places solutions within a policy cycle in order to ensure that policy issues are appropriately defined, potential solutions compared, the solution that increases synergies and reduces trade-offs adopted, and the adopted solution implemented, monitored, and evaluated; • aligns policy development with the political, institutional, and analytical realities of the policy environment.
This summary is prepared to enable senior policy and decision makers to appreciate IP’s added value. The full report is available for practitioners who are convinced of the need for SD and seeking guidance on how to make public policies contribute to it. | en_US |
