dc.descriptionA regional meeting of experts held in Bangkok in 1985 (UNEP, 1986) formulated a programme of action for environmental education and training in Asia and the Pacific. The development of tertiary level curricula on topical environmental issues was seen as a priority activity. In recognition of the need for greater collaboration and interaction in environmental education in Asia and the Pacific, the meeting also recommended the establishment a regional network for environmental education and training to: i) exchange information on courses, training programmes and research activities; ii) facilitate the exchange of experts; and ill) serve as an advisory group for environmental education in Asia and the Pacific region. Priority projects were to be in the areas of: a) information exchange; b) environmental economics; c) coastal zone management; d) toxic chemicals and hazardous processes and wastes; and e) acid rain.en_US
