This meeting identified a series of seven pilot projects and GFCM agreed to coordinate the implementation of four of them. The programme as drawn up during the meeting has been endorsed at the beginning of 1975 as part of an Action Plan by the UNEP Intergovernmental Meeting on the Protection of the Mediterranean and a FAO(GFCM)/UNEP Expert Consultation was convened that same year to prepare, for each of the four pilot projects, an operational document which is now an integral part of the agreements concluded between those research centers which participate in these projects and FAO(GFCM).
