Members of the task team on the development of the high-level indicator (HLI) on the “global environmental burden attributable to chemicals and waste” were invited to share their perspectives through an online survey on the following topics: definition of the environmental burden, objectives, scope dimensions, constituting elements and structure of the HLI. A total of 10 main questions were asked, with the opportunity for additional observations. The survey was developed based on the work carried out so far, incorporating input provided by stakeholders through previous task team meetings1 2, as well as expert consultations. The questions included multiple-choice options, written responses, and rating scales. The survey was circulated on 28 March 2025, and the input shared at the 3rd task team meeting3 held on 24 April 2025. A summary of responses received, including responses received after the meeting, is presented below. In total, 16 responses were received from civil society/ NGOs (38%), governments (38%), intergovernmental organizations (13%), academia (6%), and the private sector/industry (6%).
